On August 25, 2017 at 3:08 p.m., Hampton Township officers were dispatched to the area of Route 8, near Aldis, for a two vehicle accident. Upon arrival, both vehicles were found to have sustained heavy damage and both had to be towed from the scene. The single occupants of each vehicle were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Witnesses stated that the accident occurred when the operator of one vehicle was waiting to turn left out of Aldis parking lot onto Route 8. Officers were told that a second uninvolved vehicle stopped in the northbound curb lane and that the driver of that vehicle waved the other driver out. There was a third vehicle that was still proceeding in the northbound curb lane, and when the other operator attempted to pull out of the parking lot without verifying proper clearance, their vehicle collided with the oncoming vehicle.
