On September 5, 2017 at 5:51 a.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to Route 8 and Duncan Avenue for a two vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the two involved vehicles were still in the roadway. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene. One vehicle occupant was taken to the hospital by ambulance for complaint of injuries. The operators and witnesses said that one vehicle was stopped in the northbound passing lane of Route 8, waiting to turn left onto Duncan Avenue. The operator proceeded to attempt the left turn as the opposing traffic signal became yellow. The operator proceeded into the intersection, which resulted in the collision with a vehicle that was traveling south on Route 8.
