On December 29, 2017 at 3:34 p.m., a Hampton Township officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Route 8 after observing multiple traffic violations. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The driver was found to have a suspended driver's license and was found to be in possession of drugs and paraphernalia. The operator was asked to submit to field sobriety tests, which they were unable to complete as had been explained and demonstrated. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI and possession.
