On February 23, 2018 at 4:27 p.m., Hampton Township officers responded to the parking lot of a business on Middle Road for a hit and run report. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting party, who stated that they had been in the southbound left turn lane on Route 8, at McNeal Road, when their vehicle was struck from behind. They stated that the other vehicle was a silver Toyota sedan, and it was last seen traveling east on McNeal Road. The operator had obtained the registration plate from the other vehicle, and provided it to the responding officers. Officers then drove to the address that was associated with the provided registration plate and spoke with the vehicle owners. The vehicle owner stated that they had pulled into a parking lot on McNeal Road immediately following the crash, and thought that the other driver would pull in behind them to exchange information. They waiting for a period of time, and the vehicle they had struck never pulled into the parking lot, so they left the scene. The operator of the involved vehicle stated that their foot slipped off the brake, which resulted in their vehicle striking the car in front of them. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident.
