On July 28, 2018 at 4:37 p.m., Hampton Township Police were dispatched to Route 8, at McNeal Road, for a three vehicle accident with injuries. Upon the officer's arrival, two vehicle occupants were found to be complaining of chest pain. The accident occurred when one operator rear-ended a vehicle that was stopped at a steady red light in the curb lane of southbound Route 8. Witnesses stated that the vehicle's operator never appeared to hit their brakes prior to the impact. The operator stated that they were momentarily distracted, and by the time they saw the vehicle stopped ahead, they were unable to stop quickly enough. The force of the collision caused the rear-ended vehicle to strike a third vehicle. Two vehicles had to be towed from the scene due to substantial damage.
