On July 29, 2018 at 11:14 p.m., a Hampton Township officer was traveling on Wildwood Road, approaching Route 8, when they observed a silver sedan, which was directly in front of the officer's patrol car, attempt to turn left onto Route 8. Upon attempting to turn left, the vehicle was observed to strike the center concrete median with the rear driver's side tire. The officer then observed the vehicle to cross over the dotted center line on two occasions in a very short distance. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Immediately upon making contact with the operator, the officer observed him to have bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath and person. The operator was unable to state the English Alphabet, and was unable to complete all other field sobriety tests as had been explained and demonstrated. The operator was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.
