[ARCHIVED] Hampton Council August Meeting Actions

Hampton Township Council held their Regular Meeting on August 22nd; actions from the meeting included but not limited to:


- Held a public hearing regarding Sheetz, Inc. Liquor License transfer request for their business located at 5300 Route 8 (Route 8 @ E. Hardies Road).  Sheetz plans to add a sit down restaurant area for more than 30 customers featuring all the fresh Made to Order Sheetz food.  By doing so, this store will qualify for an eating place liquor license, and would like to sell beer for on premises consumption as well as to go.

- Adopted Resolution No. 995 approving the Sheetz, Inc. Liquor License transfer.

- Renewed the Township's insurance coverage, saving approximately $27,700 in premium costs compared last year's premiums.

- Authorized the pursuit of Municipal Building upgrades through the Capital Improvement Fund Budget, not to exceed $70,000.  Improvements include, but not limited to: replacement of sidewalks and a ramp; replacement of flag pole; a two-bay carport for two Township vehicles; relocate cubicles and replace kitchenette in front office; cleaning duct work, carpets and tile floors; and remodel an office into two rooms for additional storage. 

- Awarded a three-year contract to JML Landscape for landscaping services.

- Approved 2019 Budgetary Development Goals and Objectives.  G & O include: identify funding for engineering to begin the upgrade of Water Pollution Control Plant; develop a long-range MS4 (DEP mandated stormwater rules and regulations) funding strategies; continuation of GIS implementation to allow for field data collection and mapping; ongoing funding program for Police Department compliance with federal security program; explore short and long-term funding streams to enhance the Township's road resurfacing program with a goal of reaching a 15 year turnaround time frame for resurfacing of each Township owned roadway; identify and include funding for a complete review of the Township's Comprehensive Plan; identify funding to further evaluate available Community Center space and better utilization opportunities; enhancement of community outreach and engagement through social media;  and, develop and implement a comprehensive improvements plan for the outdoor swimming pool focusing on both facilities as well as operations. 

- Appointed Cody Alward as a part-time police officer, pending a physical and psychological examination.

- Authorized a five-year lease renewal for a CAT 430F2 Backhoe.

- Adopted Resolution No. 996 approving a new five-year winter maintenance agreement with PennDOT, reimbursing the Township to maintain certain State roads for snow/ice removal.

- Continued the possible enactment of proposed ordinances relating to Massage Therapy Establishments and Solar Panels.

- Scheduled a public hearing for October 10, 2018 relating to a proposed Fireworks Ordinance.

- Approved an Amusement License request for filming on Duncan Avenue.

- Discussed the following upcoming community events - Manager's Coffee Conversation scheduled for September 10th, 7 pm at the Community Center regarding "The Use of Your Tax Dollars - Township Budgeting 101"; and the Depreciation Lands Museum Hydref scheduled for Saturday, October 6th from 11 am to 4 pm.
