On November 4, 2018 at 3:15 a.m., Hampton Township officers responded to Route 8, near East Hardies Road, for a disabled vehicle. Upon arrival, the vehicle was found have substantial damage to the front of it, as well as airbag deployment. Immediately upon making contact with the driver and sole occupant, the responding officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. The driver stated that they lost control of their vehicle and struck a concrete barrier dividing the northbound and southbound lanes. The driver showed visible signs of impairment, and was asked to perform field sobriety tests. The operator was unable to complete the field sobriety tests as had been explained and demonstrated and was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.
