[ARCHIVED] A Letter to Residents Regarding Stormwater Management - October 9th Public Hearing

The Township is proposing to implement a stormwater utility fund in order to maintain an effective stormwater management program as well as meet compliance with unfunded mandatory stormwater requirements.  This program will generate a funding stream dedicated to stormwater related projects allowing the Township to be proactive and address stormwater issues before they become critical and cause severe problems as well as stay ahead of regulations and avoid heavy penalties for non-compliance.

The funding will come from property owners and will be based on the amount of impervious surface on each parcel measured in ERUs (Equivalent Residential Unit) which is determined by sampling of residential lots.  It has been determined that the size of one ERU in the Township is 3,300 sq. ft.  Based on the funding needed for the Township’s stormwater management programs, the fee for one ERU is $115 per year.

The Township’s consulting engineer has provided a presentation on costs of stormwater management and provided information regarding property owner’s responsibility to pay for stormwater generated from their property. We have attached a copy of the presentation and made it available on our website at https://www.hampton-pa.org/DocumentCenter/View/2552/10-2-19-Presentation

In addition, there will be a public hearing on October 9th at 7:30 PM at the Hampton Township Municipal Building to consider the proposed ordinance that would create the fund.  We encourage your attendance if you would like to know more about how this fund will impact you.

We hope to see you there.

W. Christopher Lochner,
Municipal Manager
