Although no cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) have been reported in Western Pennsylvania, the Township of Hampton is working to ensure the safety of all its residents and staff. We will be taking a proactive approach to challenges that may emerge as the situation develops. As acknowledged by the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) on March 11, “there is increasing evidence in the U.S., the state, and surrounding states indicating that local presumptive positive cases are likely to be detected in the near future.
In an effort to ensure the well-being of our community, attempt to flatten the curve to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, and support public health suggestions, the Hampton Township Community Center and Library will be closed to the public effective 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2020, until further notice.
All public access to the building will be restricted and all classes, programming, events, and rentals are cancelled. The Community Services Department is working diligently to inform and notify all affected parties. Library patrons will receive a separate notification from the Hampton Community Library regarding its programs and events.
The March 28th Litter/Clean-Up Day is cancelled, and we hope to reschedule this fall. The April 4th Easter Egg Hunt is also cancelled.
Our focus remains on the overall well being and health of our community. We encourage the public to follow the recommendations provided by the CDC and other state and local public health agencies regarding limiting your exposure to large gatherings, staying home if you feel sick, and practicing thorough hygiene and personal protective measures.
The Coronavirus is a developing situation. These policies may change in response to new information, and additional cancellations may be necessary. Please continue to get updates from the Township through our website, Facebook and/or Twitter.
