[ARCHIVED] A Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update from the Municipal Manager

As many of you are aware, the presence of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has been reported in Western Pennsylvania. You may even be aware that an individual from Hampton has contracted this virus. The Township is sensitive to the serious nature of the Coronavirus and is following guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Allegheny County Heath Department in order to keep our employees, public officials, and citizens safe. On a daily basis we will continue to monitor updates from these government agencies and beginning on Wednesday March 18th  we will post this information on our Web-site and Facebook Page as it becomes available.

After much discussion, it has been decided that Township Offices will remain open, however, we would strongly encourage residents and/or individuals who need to do business with the Township to try and do so through the use of technology. If you need to visit the Municipal Building please understand that restrictions with regard to personal contact will be in place. Furthermore, the Township requests that all payments of bills and/or fees be done electronically where possible or by personal check sent through the US. Mail. Until further notice NO CASH PAYMENTS OF ANY TYPE will be accepted by the Township. Information and instructions with regard to recreation program registrations, program refunds/credits, building permits and/or building/occupancy permit fees will appear on the Township’s Web-site and Facebook Page beginning tomorrow. Last, please understand that with the exception of the Municipal and Police Building lobby areas, all other Township buildings are closed to the general public until further notice. Because these are enclosed areas this has been done not only protect residents/visitors, as well as the Township employees.

Until further notice, Township Council will continue to hold is regularly scheduled public meetings. While public meetings are still being held, the public is encouraged to submit their comments or concerns to management in advance, in lieu of attendance. During such meeting strict social distancing practices will be in place and strictly adhered to. Procedures for future public meetings will be dealt with as needed, and posted on the Township Web-site and Facebook Page.

There is no doubt that we are living through and interesting time, one that promises an unknown future. What is known is that you can count on the Township’s Emergency Service (Police, EMS and Fire) personnel to be there if you need us. You can also count on our public services as our Public Works and Environmental Services employees will respond as you need us to.

Again, please monitor the Township Web-site and Facebook Page for information regarding the Coronavirus, CDC and County Health Department announcements as well as Township Operations as we move forward through this crisis together.   Thank you.

Township of Hampton
